Penny's First Haircut
Today was a big day in the world of Penny Noel, who got her first ever haircut! After weeks and weeks of requesting bangs, I made her an appointment with Kristine, a gal I’ve known and trusted for years as a pro in all things hair-related. Every day until this one, including this one, I’ve asked Penny if she really wanted bangs. (In my many days of parenting a toddler, if there’s one thing I’ve learned its that you can’t always take what they say to the bank. And I didn’t want to take this one all the way to the hair appointment if she didn’t really mean it.) Every time I asked, she answered, “Yes, I want bangs, like Mommy’s”. Well ok then, Penny. You got it.
We arrived and she got a little shy. Kristine suggested she sit in my lap, a good call. Penny sat quietly and stayed focused, knowing what she had been asking for was finally happening. I realized then that this may be the first time Penny has made a big decision all on her own that we agreed to. She’s not even 3 and it felt so mature. Like wait, she’s really not a baby anymore, she’s a big girl with a mind of her own.
And now she’s a big girl with the cutest bangs I’ve ever seen!!!
They make her beautiful blue-green eyes POP.
And PTL! She really likes them. She made a decision that we trusted her with and followed through. 3 going on 13.
To celebrate, we went to Sidecar for donuts. Afterwards, Penny asked if we could go to the pool by our house. (Something we’ve never done until today.. why?!!). So we went and it was great.
I can’t get over our beautiful blonde California girl, so so far from baby land and well on her way from toddler to little girl world. We couldn’t be more proud to be her parents.
Special thanks to Kristine Ruiz with The Collective in Costa Mesa for making this first go smoothly! kristineruiz.com
